カートゥーン・ネットワークの「ヘルボーイ」のオリジナルアニメ第２弾「Hellboy: Blood and Iron」を観た。
アニメのスタイルや声優陣は前作「Sword of Storms」と変わっていないものの、ストーリーがどことなく冗長だった前作に比べ、今回はお化け屋敷を舞台に限定することで展開がタイトになり、話の出来が格段に上がっている。
屋敷に潜む女吸血鬼と戦うヘルボーイらBPRDの姿が当然メインの話になるわけだが、それにフラッシュバックが交じって吸血鬼の過去などが紹介されていく形になっていて、メインの話が進むにつれフラッシュバックのシーンはどんどん過去のものになっていくという手法がなかなか効果的。吸血鬼が倒されたあとの展開がやや長いような気もするけど、全体的には十分楽しめる作品だった。
そして第３弾はついにロブスター・ジョンソンが登場するらしいぞ。そうなるとホムンクルスのロジャーも出てくるのかな。
ちなみに「ヘルボーイ」の原作者MIKE MIGNOLAってどうして日本の雑誌とかは「マイク・ミニョーラ」って表記になってるんだろう。公式サイトを見る限りでは「マイク・ミグノラ」って発音してるんだけどね。どっちが正しいのかな。
