youtubeで鑑賞。ドバイで国民的人気を誇るCGアニメだそうな。古風な考えをもった４人のおばあちゃんたちと、急速に近代化していく周囲の環境とのギャップを描いた内容らしい…英文字幕のある動画を見つけられなかったんだけど、ざっと観た限りでは普通の家族向けアニメという感じか。原作者はボストンに留学中に「サウスパーク」などを観てこの作品を発案したそうだけど、あそこまで過激なネタとかはないみたい。でもイスラム教を風刺したギャグが問題になったりもしたんだとか。
CGの出来は意外と良くて、アメリカとかでも十分通用しそうなクオリティではあるけど、いかんせん主人公がみなヴェールをまとっているのが違和感あるよなあ。イスラムのれっきとした文化だというのは承知してるのですが、表情による感情表現が分かりにくいのはアニメとしてどうかと。
でもこういう番組はイスラム圏のみならず欧米のイスラム人口にも需要があると思われるので、世界市場的には日本のアニメと競合することになるのかもしれない。
