「偉大なるアンバーソン家の人々」鑑賞

たまには古典も観るべえ、ということでオーソン・ウェルズの監督第２作「偉大なるアンバーソン家の人々」を鑑賞。

名家を舞台にした愛憎うずまく物語ということで昼メロ的な展開が多分にあるものの、一家の栄光と没落がドラマチックに描かれていてそれなりに面白い。惜しむらくは主人公のドラ息子があまりにも愚直すぎて、「市民ケーン」にあったような幅広い性格描写ができていないことか。それでも長廻しや引きのドリーショット、影を多用したライティングといった撮影のテクニックが1942年の段階で確立され、物語を語るにおいてきちんと使われているところなんかは興味深い。というか最近の映画における過度なBGMやカメラワークなんて殆どの場合ストーリーからむしろ観客の興味をそらす結果になっていると思うんだけどね。話の内容をしっかり伝えるにはむしろ映像が白黒のほうがいいんじゃないかと、ボグダノヴィッチ的なことも考えてしまうんだが。

ウェルズ作品なら次は「黒い罠」を観てみたいところです。
