スウェーデンの番組をリメークしたチャンネル４の新シリーズで、アメリカではAMCで放送開始したもの。
最近は技術の進化を反映してかAI（人工知能）を扱った映画がいろいろ作られていて、「チャッピー」とか「Ex Machina」のほかに、「アベンジャーズ２」もAIが大きなテーマになってますな。このシリーズもAIを持ったロボット（シンセと呼ばれる）が市販され、家事手伝いとか単純労働などの業務を人間に代わって行なうようになった近未来を舞台にしている。
話の登場人物は大まかに３グループあるようで、出張のため家を不在にしがちな母親の代役としてアニタという名のシンセを購入した一家、時代遅れのシンセと生活する老科学者、および特定のシンセを探している謎の男といったところ。第１話では彼らがお互いに絡むことはないんだが、今後はいろいろ話が錯綜していくのかな。
アニタを含む一部の特定なシンセは感情や記憶を持っていることが示唆されており、そうしたシンセを追って捕獲する謎の組織も登場するサスペンスになっている。シンセが人間そっくりで外見からすぐシンセだと判断できないのって実際には不便だろうし、アニタに子供たちがなついてしまい嫉妬する母親とか、SF番組としては前にどこかで見たような展開が続いて決して目新しくはないものの、「Ex Machina」同様に音楽や演出が巧いので観ていて飽きない内容になっている。
出演者で有名どころは「マーリン」のコリン・モーガンか。ヒゲが生えてて最初誰だか分からなかったよ。あと意外にも老科学者役としてウィリアム・ハートが出演している。またアニカはジェンマ・チャンというアジア系の女優が演じてるのだが、アジア人女性って従順な召使いというステレオタイプがあるのかね…？
今後の展開が分からないので評価しづらいところだが、知的なSFサスペンスとして期待できる作品かもしれない。
