以前にも書きましたが、やはり俺としてはデッカードがレプリカントだという設定は好きになれんのよ。今回ファイナルカット版を観ていてつくづく思ったが、この作品のテーマは人間とレプリカントの対比にあるはずなわけで、デッカードとレイチェルの関係も人種（？）を超えた愛であり、おまけに彼女はあと数年で命尽きるという悲劇的な内容なわけですよ。そして人間によって作り出されたレプリカントがもはや肉体的にも知性的にも人間を超えた存在となり、しまいには生命を尊重するという感情さえも備えてしまったことを、狩る者から狩られる者になったデッカードが最後に悟るわけだよね。
これがもし「デッカードはレプリカントだった！」ということになるのなら、単に「同類相哀れんでいる」というだけで作品のテーマがえらく希薄になってしまうと思うんだが、どうだろう。確かにユニコーンを使った最後のタネ明かしの演出は素晴らしいけどさ。例えば「シックス・センス」なんかでは主人公が××だった、と明かされたことでそれまでの伏線が一気に解決されたけど、この作品ではデッカードがレプリカントだと明かされても、それまでの展開が変に複雑なものになるだけだし、あまり賢い終わり方だとは思えんのだが。そこらへんキャストやスタッフはどう考えてるんだろうと思って監督のコメンタリーや３時間超のドキュメンタリー「DANGEROUS DAYS」を観てみたが、あまり関連したことは話してなかった。うーん。
余談だがこの作品って原作に大幅な脚色を加えているわけで、「ブレードランナー」で使用されなかった原作の部分を拾い集めて再映像化しても十分面白いものが出来上がりそうなんだがどうだろう。自分の死期を承知しているレイチェルや、彼女と同型の脱走レプリカント、偽の警察署、自分にVKテストを試みるデッカード、足を切られてもがく蜘蛛、郊外を埋め尽くすキップル、あとまあマーサー教などなど。Sci-fiチャンネルあたりでTVムービーとかにしてくれないかな。
