こないだやっとアカデミー賞を取ったマーティン・スコセッシの実質的デビュー作「明日に処刑を…」をVHSでダラダラ観る。
これはスコセッシがロジャー・コーマン閣下のもとで作った映画で、1930年代の不況にあえぐホーボーたちが犯罪に手を出していくさまを描いたもの。反権力のスピーチとか扇動的な暴力描写とかカーチェイスとか、ジョン・キャラダインとバーバラ・ハーシーのセックスシーン（本当にヤッてたらしい）とか、エクスプロイテーション映画の要素がとりあえずいろいろ投げ入れられてる作品。コーマン先生のテイスト満載ですね。
でもいかんせん低予算映画だから全体的に作りが安っぽくて、照明もヒドいし役者のセリフまわしとかも単調で、スコセッシの初期の作品ということ以外は何も見るポイントはない映画かなあ。ラストの録り方は結構うまかったけど。でもこの１年後にスコセッシは傑作「ミーン・ストリート」を作るわけで、やはりこういう練習作品（？）を作るのが監督にとっては大事なことなのかと。日本のピンク映画みたいなものですかね。
ちなみにこないだ神保町でこの映画の日本公開時のポスターを発見したんだけど、当時は「スコシージ」と、より実際の発音に近い形で監督名が表記されていた。誰だよ、「スコセッシ」なんて表記を広めたのは？
