あと個人的に好きだったのが、「バットマン・ビギンズ」もそうだったけど、ゴッサムのマフィアやゴロツキがきちんと「街の脅威」として描かれてること。多くのアメコミ映画では派手なヴィランだけに焦点が集まってしまい、部下の悪党どもはショッカーの戦闘員のごとくザコ扱いされてたが、この作品ではイタリアン・マフィアやロシアン・マフィアが街を脅かす存在であり、バットマンが彼らの撲滅に手を焼いていること、そしてジョーカーが彼らと手を組むことで自分の破壊活動をさらに加速させていく姿がうまく描かれていて、単に「ヴィランを倒せば街は平和に戻ります」的な展開にならないところがいい。また私利私欲で行動するマフィアたちに対し、ジョーカーが何ら明確な動悸を持っていないというのも見事なコントラストを生んでいるのかな。あとエリック・ロバーツは濃い顔のオヤジになったなあ。
難点があるとすれば尺がちょっと長い点で、例えばウェイン・エンタープライズのバカ社員のプロットは省いてもよかったような気もするけど、中ダレせずに２時間半の濃厚なドラマを描ききった点は本当に凄い。あとヒース・レジャーはアカデミー賞とかに絶対ノミネートされるべきでしょう。この映画の大ヒットにより早くも続編の噂がいろいろ出ているけど、果たしてこれだけの傑作を超えることができるのかな。
