何となく田山花袋の「少女病」を連想してしまったよ。特に地下鉄のシーンとか。これ主人公がニューヨークのオサレなアパートメントに住んでいる高級取りのイケメンをスタイリッシュに撮っているから成り立っている作品であるわけで、これが埼玉の格安賃貸に住むブサメンの色情狂とメンヘラの妹という設定だったらまた違った話になってたんだろうね。個人的にはそっちも観てみたかった気がするが。

同じ監督＆主演の前作「ハンガー」が密室劇に近かったのに比べ、こっちはニューヨークでの屋外ロケなども行ってずいぶん映画としてこなれてきたな、という感じ。セックス依存症という微妙なテーマを、美しい映像によって美化することも卑下こともせずきちんと描いているのは巧いな。特に鏡を効果的に使った映像が見事で、ここらへんはやはり芸術家が監督やってるのことはあるね。

そして普通の生活を装うとするものの自分の渇望を抑えきれず、奈落の底に落ちていく主人公をマイケル・ファスベンダーが文字通り体を張って熱演している。こないだの「A Dangerous Method」のときも書いたように、彼って受け身というか周囲に翻弄されるタイプの役が多いので役者としての力量がいまいち掴みにくいんだけど、ここでは心に大きな虚無を抱えた主人公にその演技がとてもよく似合ってるかな。一方のキャリー・マリガンは彼を更正させる無垢な女性の役を演じるのかと思ってたら、彼以上に精神的にヤバい人の役だったんですね。少し意外な設定でしたが悪くはない役でしたよ。

まあやはりアートな映画という印象は拭えず、例えばニューヨークの精神的に不安定なヤンエグ（死語）の話だったら「アメリカン・サイコ」、依存症の話だったら「レクイエム・フォー・ドリーム」などのほうが優れている気もするが、どうにもならなくなって苦悶に顔をゆがめるファスベンダーの演技を観るだけでも価値はあるかも。いっそこのまま二次元萌えとかに目覚めてくれればとても面白い話になったかもしれないが…。
