ジョン・キューザック演じる主人公のマーティン・ブランクは一流のヒットマンだが自分の仕事に空しいものを感じるようになり、セラピストに通うようになっていた。そんな彼に高校の同窓会の通知がやってくる。最初は出席を嫌がっていたものの、ちょうど地元での暗殺仕事を引き受けたため彼は10年ぶりに地元へ戻り同窓会に出ることに。いざ地元の町に戻った彼は仕事そっちのけで昔の恋人を見つけ出し、再びよりを戻そうとする。しかしそんな彼を狙う殺し屋たちも町にやって来ていて…というような話。
それなりに派手なドンパチとかもあって面白いことは面白いものの、主人公が終始落ち込んでいるために何かキレが悪い感じがする作品。もっと脳天気な内容にしてもよかったのに。主人公と他の殺し屋と政府のエージェントという３者の関係もいまいち掴みにくい。ジョン・キューザック主演のブラック・コメディだったら「アイス・ハーヴェスト」のほうがずっと面白かったぞ。なお音楽担当はなんとジョー・ストラマー。ザ・クラッシュやヴァイオレント・フェムズをはじめ、スペシャルズやザ・キュアーといった80’sの音楽がガンガン流れる内容になっている。というかオリジナルの音楽はほとんど流れてなかったような。
