米アマゾンのオリジナル番組。こないだの「ゾンビランド」のときにパイロットが作られたものの１つで、それがシリーズ化されることになったのかな？最初の数話は日本からでも視聴可能だぞ。
主役となるのはワシントンDCで同じ家に暮らしている４人の共和党の議員たち。彼らは地元の選挙運動のことについて頭を痛めながら、魑魅魍魎のはびこるワシントンにおいて、アフガンへの使節団派遣について協議するが物事はあらぬ方向へ…というようなプロット。
各話の脚本を書いているのが、老舗風刺漫画「ドゥーンズベリー」の作者であるギャリー・トゥルードー。議員たちがシェアする家が学生寮みたいなのは初期「ドゥーンズベリー」に通じるところがあるかな。
民主党の議員が家をシェアしていたのをモデルにしたらしいが、主人公たちは共和党の議員になっていて、同性婚などに反対しつつオバマ叩きのネタを集める側として描かれている。また民主党を相手に選挙運動をするだけでなく、さらに右寄りのティーパーティーの連中の脅威を感じているあたりが最近の風潮を表してますね。あと議員が自分をアピールするための場として「コルベアー・レポー」が登場するよ。
主演はジョン・グッドマンで、「ザ・ワイヤー」のクラーク・ピーターズも出演しているほか、第１話ではビル・マーレイがちょっとだけ出演していた。あとハーレイ・ジョエル・オスメントも出ているらしいがよく分からず。オリジナル番組にこれだけのキャストを揃えられるとはアマゾンやはり金持ってんなあ。
ただ右も左も関係なしに政治家の無能っぷりをテンポ良く描いていく「Veep」に比べると共和党へのバイアスが強い内容になっているほか、ライター（というか漫画家）が脚本を書いてるせいかちょっとセリフが多く、話の展開が鈍重になっているような。ここらへんは改善の余地ありでしょう。でもとりあえず１話以降の無料エピソードもチェックしてみます。
