こないだアカデミー監督賞を穫ったアルフォンソ・キュアロンが製作と第１話の監督を務めるNBCの新作ドラマ。プロデューサーとしてJJエイブラムスも関わっているみたい。

少女のボーは幼いころから超常的な能力を発揮することができ、その能力を謎の組織に狙われたために里親を転々としていた。彼女を守る別の組織に属するウィンターは死刑囚のテイトに目をつけ、彼を脱獄させる代わりにボーを保護するように命じる。仕方なしにボーと出会ったテイトだったが、そこにボーを狙った女殺し屋が現われたことから、ボーとテイトの長い逃避行が始まる…というストーリー。

なんか80年代にあった超能力少女マンガっぽいような…。池上遼一の「舞」ってこんな話じゃなかったっけ？ボーは人の感情を読み取ったり漠然とした予知能力を持っていることが示唆されるのだが、感情が高まるとさらに過激な能力をつかうことができ、要するに「イヤボーンの法則」ですな。日本のマンガだけでなく「キャリー」とかもそうだけど、ちょっとクリーシェ感が強いかと。

冒頭にちょっと長回しっぽい演出が使われているものの、それ以外は比較的普通の演出だったかな。CGのチョウとかがいかにも作り物なのが興醒め。テイトを演じるのがジェイク・マクラフリン、ってよく知らんな。ボーを演じるのはジョニー・セクオヤ（Sequoyah）という女の子なんだけど、女性なのにジョニーというのね。あとはウィンター役にデルロイ・リンド、その助手にジェイミー・チャンと手堅い役者で脇を固めている。あとはボーを狙う黒幕をカイル・マクラクランが演じてるのだが、携帯電話で指示を出して「フフフ…。」とほくそ笑んでいるだけなので今後はどう話に絡んでくるのか分からず。

決して革新的な作品とかではないものの、アルフォンソ・キュアロンのネームバリューもあるので日本でもどこかで放送されるんじゃないかな？ただ今年の新作ドラマはSFものが多い一方でどれも苦戦してる印象があるので（Agents of SHIELDとか）、まず本国でどこまで頑張れるかが人気の分かれ目になるでしょう。
