ハンク・アザリア主演のIFCの新シリーズ。元々はFunny or dieのために作られたキャラクターを主人公にしたもの。
ジミー・ブロックマイアはメジャーリーグの名物実況アナウンサーであり、その表現豊かな実況にはファンも多かった。しかしある日妻の浮気現場を目撃してしまったことから、やけになって酔っ払った彼は実況中に暴言を撒き散らす失態を犯し、さらにその釈明会見でも暴走したことで職を追われることになる。それから10年は海外を放浪していた彼だが、その会見の映像はyoutubeにアップされてカルト人気を誇っていた。そしてアメリカに戻った彼はマイナーリーグでの求人をうけて田舎町にやってくるが、そこの球場はボロボロで、彼の実況は地元のラジオにも流れず球場だけで流されるという境遇だった…というあらすじ。
アザリアといえばエメリッヒ版「ゴジラ」とか「HUFF〜ドクターは中年症候群」とかで日本でも知られた役者だが、やはり一番有名なのは「シンプソンズ」でアプーとかモーといった多数のキャラクターを演じ分けている声優としてなのですね。声帯模写でも非凡な才能を発揮している彼が、クセのある声を持った実況アナウンサー（声も格好も実在の有名アナウンサーを真似たらしい）を演じるというのは実に適役なのではないかと。
共演はマイナーリーグ球団のオーナーにアマンダ・ピート。一回ヘマをして挫折した男が田舎町で再起しようとするという展開は決して目新しいものではないし、今後の展開がどうなるのかいまいちわからない点はあるのだけど、早くもシーズン２の製作が決まったということなので、今後面白くなってくることに期待しましょう。
