こうした言葉は、私が人生でずっと聞いてきたことを補強するものでした：私は”他人”であり、彼らと外見が異なるという理由だけで、彼らと一緒になることはできず、良い存在ではなかったと。そして今ならわかりますが、この気持ちはずっと恥でした。私を異なるものにしていたことへの恥、私がやってきた文化に対する恥などです。そして私にとって最も残念なのは、私がそれを全て感じていたことです。

これが私の住みたい世界であり、努力して作っていく世界です。

脚本や台本や戯曲を手に取るとき、私はこうしたことを常に考えます。私に与えられた機会が、希少なものであることは承知しています。私は少数の恵まれた人々の一員として、仕事において物語を伝えることができ、１つのことしか経験していなかった世界に対して物語を見せ、聴かせ、理解させることができるのです。これがどれだけ重要なことか分かっていますし、私は諦めません。
