ピーター・カパルディが監督・脚本・主演を担当した2012年の単発番組。ずっと観てみたいと思っていた作品だが、ふと検索したら中華サイトに中国語字幕つきてアップされてるのを発見してしまった。中国でどれだけ需要があるのか知らんがご苦労様です。
内容はカパルディ演じるナビゲーター（カパルディ本人かどうかは明言されてない）が、かつてロンドンに存在したという架空の映画スタジオ「クリックルウッド・スタジオ」で作られた映画の数々への思いが語られるというモキュメンタリー。
100年近く前に創設されたクリックルウッド・スタジオは映画の黎明期から撮影を行っており、数々の銀幕のスターを世に出していく。チャップリンまがいのサイレント時代のコメディアンは人気を博したものの撮影中にロードローラーに潰され、トーキーになってからの女優はその歌が大戦中の兵士たちのあいだで大流行した一方で、実は親ナチスでありヒットラーのための映画にも出演していたなど、人気俳優たちの栄光と没落が淡々と語られていく。
カラー時代になってからは財政難に見舞われ、ホラー映画を作ったらヒットして似たような作品を乱発するという流れはハマー・フィルムを意識したものかな。科学者がイモ虫に噛まれて怪物化するという「原子人間」のオマージュみたいな作品も出てきますよ。
60年代になってからはコメディ・グループ（「Carry on」シリーズのオマージュですかね）に出演していたグラマー系の女優が、イタリア人監督とアートフィルムを作るものの興行的に失敗し、その後はアダルトまがいの作品にしか出演できず、やがて自ら命を絶つという悲劇が説明される。
そして最後は例によってテリー・ギリアム（本人登場）がスタジオで撮影を行うものの、撮影用の水槽が破裂してクルーが病気になり、訴訟問題に発展して映画の公開が禁じられ、多大な負債を抱えたスタジオは閉鎖の憂き目に遭ってしまう。もはやギリアムってこういうジョークのネタにされる人になってしまったな！彼の未公開映画（？）の絵コンテがいくつか見られるのは貴重でした。
いちおうコメディ番組なんだけど、イギリスの映画史への愛とユーモアを含めたオマージュというべきか。映画スタジオの架空の歴史と作品の数々を、ゼロから作り上げたその労力は結構すごいものがありますよ。DVDなどが出てないのが残念というか、もっと正規のルートで見られるようにすべき作品。
