こないだ自分のマックのOSを10.5.7にアップグレードしたら、バッファロー社製外付けHDDが認識不可なんて不具合があることを身をもって知る羽目に。OSXって10.4.10あたりから外付けHDとの相性が悪くなったような気がするけど、今回みたいにまったく認識しなくなる例は初めてだぞ。
仕方ないんでマックを月初に買い替えた頃のデータを復旧させることにしたんだが、こないだは旧マシンからのデータ移行をTime Machine経由で行ったら、そのあとTime Machineのバックアップが旧マシンと新マシンを別物として認識するようになったため（ディスクの容量が単純に倍必要になる）、今回は移行アシスタント経由で旧マシンからのデータを移行させてみたんだけど、Time Machineは相変わらず別のバックアップをとろうとするばかりか特定のアプリケーションが起動しなくなるという謎の現象が起きたため、しょうがないから再度Time Machine経由でデータを復旧させることに。こんなことやってて半日がつぶれたぞ。
というわけで何かしらの対策が打ち出されない限り、10.5.7にはアップデートしないほうがいいかもしれない。あと新マシンになってHDの容量が増えたのはいいんだけど、それに比例してバックアップ用のディスクも大容量のものを用意しなければならないわけで、相変わらず変なところで出費が重なるんだよなあ。
