こないだ「フューチャラマ」の声優であるビリー・ウエストのことについて少し書いたけど、偶然にも今週のオニオンに彼のインタビューが載っていた。日本の声優に比べてハリウッドの声優ってマイナーなイメージがあるけど、業界の裏話とかが読めて面白い。 「声優ってのは様々なキャラクターに合わせて声を変える存在なのに、最近のCGアニメではウィル・スミスとかキャメロン・ディアスとか、キャラクターの声を担当する有名人が前面に出されすぎて作品の質を落としている」（大意）なんて発言には非常に同意。
ピクサー作品（除く「トイ・ストーリ−１＆２」）なんかは比較的無名の役者を使うことで、キャラクターそのものを立てることに成功してると思うけど、それ以外の会社は…。しかも日本みたいに、声優どころか役者ですらない「アイドル」を使って吹替え版を作るのは問題外だと思うんだけど、どうなんでしょう。
