部屋探しの合間に映画館で「Shaun Of The Dead」と「Team America: World Police」を観る。前者はとても面白い。コメディとしてもゾンビ映画としても秀逸なイギリスの映画。それに比べて「Team America」は凡作だった。最大のウリであるはずの「人形劇」の部分は観ててすぐ飽きるし、ストーリーも先が読めるのでそんなに面白くない。結局のところエログロの描写が一番面白かったりする。
ちなみにカナダの映画の入場料は１０００円から１４００円くらいのところか。全体的に物価は東京よりもやや安いものの、税金が１５％もかかるので値札を見て勘定をすると痛い目にあうことになる。あと出発前にも聞いていたが、印刷物（紙類）が高い。コミックなんて１部が５ドル近くもするもんだから、とてもじゃないが買えない…ので立ち読みでガマンする。書籍なんかが特にそうだが、アメリカ製のものはまだカナダドルが弱かったころのレートで値段が付けられているのだが、最近ではカナダの経済力が強まった（あるいはアメリカのそれが弱まった）ので、それが不公平なレートになっているのだと思う。なおカナダドルの価値が上がったことは、外国の企業にとってはカナダでの人件費が上がったということになるので、カナダの映画産業は今までのようにアメリカからの仕事を大量に受けることができず、スランプ状態なのだとか。こんなんで俺は当初の望み通り、映画関係の仕事を見つけることが出来るのだろうか?
