個人的にショックだったのは、イギリスの有名DJジョン・ピールが亡くなったこと。彼の番組を聞いてたのは1990年くらいのことだけど、もはや全ての音楽ジャンルを超越したような感じでハードコアとかラガとかをかけながら、飄々とした口調でDJをしていたのが印象に残っている。年もとっていたし、体調も良くないという話を聞いていたけど、ペルーで客死とは。合掌。
それに関連して１つ。トロントの書店でイギリスの音楽雑誌NMEを久しぶりに読んだけど、何だよあれは。俺が好きだった（高校時代に海外から取り寄せてたほど）NMEはもっと分厚くてインディー系のバンドの情報がたくさん載ってて、アングラでチープな感じがしてたのに、最近のは全編カラーで薄っぺらくて、アメリカの人気バンドにコビを売ってるような内容になっていた。ダメだよあんなんじゃあ。値段も15年前にくらべて３倍になっていた。
