「ヘレディタリー/継承」鑑賞

今年いちばん怖いと言われたホラー映画、臆病なので家で部屋を明るくして観ました。これネタバレしないと語れないと思うので、以下は注意。

・ホラー映画だしえげつない描写もあるものの、根底にはやはり崩壊していく家庭のドラマがあるわけで、その中心にいていろいろ大変な目に遭うトニ・コレットの迫真の演技あってこその作品だなと。

・「シックス・センス」では超常現象に困惑する幸の薄い母親を演じてた彼女、まわりまわって約20年後に同じような役を演じたわけだが、見せ場はこちらのほうがずっと多かったですね。悲痛にくれる顔から驚愕する顔まで一瞬のうちに表情を変えられるのは、多重人格を演じた「United States Of Tara」で培った技技なんだろうな。

・それに対してガブリエル・バーン演じるパパさんは見事に何にもしないわけで、家族がケンカしてもただ穏便になだめようとする姿が変に現実的で親近感を抱いてしまったよ。当初の設定ではセラピストで、コレット演じる妻は元患者という内容だったらしいが、家族の誰も彼に頼ろうとしないのが皮肉でもある。

・「継承」というタイトルの通り、家族に脈々と受け継がれるものがこの作品のテーマであり、それは冒頭で妻が語る精神の病なのでは、と思わせておいて実は…という展開も上手いな。これが初監督となるアリ・アスターは撮影にあたり非常に綿密な準備をしたらしいが、今後の作品も同様のテイストになるのだろうか。

・しかし傑作かというと納得いかない点もあるわけで、ここから先は完全なネタバレなので白地にします：一家に継承されたものは狂気ではなく悪魔の霊であり、それを肉体に宿らせるためにずっと前から悪魔の崇拝者たちがいろいろ暗躍していたというオチ、あまりにも崇拝者たちが用意周到すぎてしっくりこないのよな。別に絶命してない人にも悪魔（？）が憑依できるのなら、崇拝者とかが手を回さなくても最初から好き勝手できたんじゃね？と思ってしまうのです、「ローズマリーの赤ちゃん」とかもそうだけど、主人公が何もしないまま、裏で手はずが整えられていたという展開がモヤモヤするところがあったよ。

・ホラーに整然としたプロットを期待するのは、スーパーヒーロー映画に物理の法則に従うことを期待することくらい野暮なことは分かるのですが、ちょっとオチは安直だったのではないかなとも感じたのです。最近のホラー映画としては「イット・フォローズ」のほうが好きだな。
